Slangkop Lighthouse, Kommetjie, Cape Town November 2003

The first permanently built Reconciliation Labyrinth was constructed in 2003 at the foot of the Slangkop Lighthouse, Kommetjie. Kommetjie is a small holiday and fishing village on the Cape Peninsula near Cape Town, South Africa. The labyrinth was built to mark the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of Kommetjie and also as symbol of the hope that in the next 100 years there will be an increasing reaching out towards each other by neighbouring communities whose common sense of shared humanity still suffers so from the dehumanisation that was apartheid.
